Retired Calif. officer accidentally shoots self
The Vallejo Times-Herald VALLEJO, Calif. — A retired Vallejo police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg at his home in Vacaville on Friday, police said. At about 4:15 p.m., Vacaville police were called to a resident on Copper School Road and found a man with a .45 caliber gunshot wound to his right leg, police said. Further investigation revealed the retired officer had accidentally fired the gun while attempting to put it into its holster, police said. A friend of the victim was reportedly in the living room when the shooting occurred and witnessed the accident, police reported.
