TEAM GLOCK Shooting Squad Sevigny and Rogers Win Two Categories at the 2007 IDPA Nationals

Smyrna, GA-The 2007 IDPA Nationals were held September 27-30 in Allentown, Pennsylvania where TEAM GLOCK Shooting Squad members continued with their strong performances.

In her IDPA Nationals debut, Randi Rogers shot her way to the High Lady title finishing 21st “Stock Service Pistol” (SSP) Master class at 253.16 seconds.  Rogers used her reliable GLOCK 34 in 9mm during the championship run.  The GLOCK shooting champion defeated “Enhanced Service Pistol” (ESP) Expert class Judith LaFreniere who finished at 283.21 and Sharpshooter class Tammy Sharp at 300.07.  Category contestants are combined regardless of their respective gun division or skill classification at the IDPA Nationals.   “Participating at the IDPA Nationals was a wonderful experience.  I feel honored to have won the High Lady title.  There were many serious competitors and it was challenging competition.  I look forward to next year and plan to work hard to defend my title,” said IDPA’s newest High Lady champion Randi Rogers.

In the top tier, Dave Sevigny won the High Gun Industry title for the fifth consecutive year with a time of 174.66 seconds but slipped to second in his bid for the “Custom Defensive Pistol” (CDP) division championship.  Sevigny has always competed in the Stock Service Pistol (SSP) division where he’s won every national title with a GLOCK since 2001.  David Olhasso, a top CDP regular from Pennsylvania, earned his first national championship with a final tally of 173.42.  Ernest Langdon rounded out the top three with a 187.27.  Sevigny used the new GLOCK model 21SF in .45 A.C.P. for his run at the title.  In the CDP division, competitors must use a .45 ACP caliber pistol limited to eight rounds loaded in each magazine.

Sevigny’s decision to compete in CDP division ensured there would be a new SSP national champion.   “I don’t like having to choose, but we can only shoot one division here.  CDP is the best place for a major .45 round to compete,” explained Sevigny.   The SSP championship was won this year by Ohio SWAT police officer, Bob Vogel with a score of 177.02 seconds.  He also won the High Law Enforcement title for the third time in a row.  Vogel used a GLOCK model 35 in .40 to claim his titles.  In SSP division, competitors must use a double or Safe-Action pistol limited to ten rounds loaded in each magazine.  “I’m happy for David (Olhasso) and Bob (Vogel).  They are good guys who have worked hard for a long time for this.  I’m disappointed it came at our expense, but I won’t obsess about a number two spot, it happens.  It’s not like we ever hit the canvas here and were out for the count,” said Sevigny.  In Sevigny’s two National runner-up finishes in 2000 and 2007, the combined margin of victory for the winners was less than 2 seconds.

When asked about the GLOCK 21SF’s performance, Sevigny stated, “It ran great without a single stoppage which is characteristic of all GLOCK pistols.  I’ll fire a few more competitions with it in October.  Reliability is everything whether in sport or the real world.”  Reports from the IDPA Nationals indicate the GLOCK 21SF was the only pistol in the top three in the Custom Defense division to run 100% without a single stoppage.

Vice President of Sales and Marketing Gary Fletcher states, “TEAM GLOCK Shooting Squad has had an excellent season thus far and we are pleased with the results from Dave’s debut with the 21SF.  The competition performance with GLOCK pistols speak volumes about the reliability of the family of pistols.  We look forward to another winning performance from Dave at the Tactical Shooting Association.”  The Inaugural Tactical Shooting Association National Competition will take place in Surry, Virginia on October 19-21.
