Savage Range Systems completes Test Range for Sturm Ruger

WESTFIELD, MA:  Savage Range Systems, Inc., manufacturers of indoor and outdoor shooting ranges, bullet traps, steel targets and shoot houses, recently completed delivery of a new bullet trap for Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. at their manufacturing facility in Newport, New Hampshire.  The installation was a Savage Model 810 Wet Snail Trap, which is the safest, cleanest, lowest-maintenance bullet trap available anywhere.

The new range will be used by Ruger for both testing of production firearms and development of new firearms.  The fifty yard, thirty-foot wide range required the use of approximately ten tons of AR500 steel to meet the demands of constant high-volume use.

“At Ruger we place tremendous demands on our test ranges, and we’ve always known we could count on Savage to build a shooting range that can put up with the punishing requirements of the manufacturing environment,” said Chris Killoy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Ruger.  “We also can’t afford to have our ranges down for replacement or repairs. We allowed two weeks for Savage to complete installation of the new range.  Savage worked two shifts through the weekend and completed the installation in one week, so there was absolutely no delay in our manufacturing schedule.”

The installation included a new thirty-foot bullet conveyor to dispose of the projectiles, which minimizes employee exposure to lead and down-time required for routine maintenance.

Savage Range Systems continues to be the favorite among firearms and ammunition manufacturers for bullet traps and test ranges.  Virtually every major manufacturer utilizes Savage Range Systems traps in their testing facilities.
